James Michael (Mike) Roberts
January 20, 1942 – December 4, 2012
Mike was born in Martinsville on Jan. 20, 1942, to Louis Wilkerson Roberts and Mavis Bowling Roberts.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Roberts Handy, and a brother, Louis W. Roberts Jr.
He attended Martinsville High School, was a Navy veteran and had been in the retail grocery and restaurant business for more than 50 years.
He was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith and was a member of the Martinsville Church of Truth.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Ann Horton Roberts of the home; one daughter, Jewel R. Lawson of Stuart; four sons, Michael “Mickey” Reid Roberts of Rocky Mount, James David Roberts of Woolwine, Paul Douglas Roberts and Freddie Horton Roberts, both of Martinsville; one sister, Joanne R. Shelburne of Lynchburg; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
