John Franklin Watkins, 94, of Moneta, formerly of Stanleytown, passed away on July 6, 2018 at the VA Medical Center in Salem. He was born in Wytheville, on July 26, 1923 to Miller Watkins and Alice Collins Watkins. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Watkins; brothers, Huston Watkins, Chiffon Watkins, Hugh Watkins, Phil Watkins and James Watkins; sisters, Ethel Tickle, Lila Price and Louise Watkins. John served his country in the US Army during WWII.
He is survived by a daughter, Lois Ann Wagoner; son, Samuel Watkins; sister, Edith Wimmer, three grandchildren.
Burial will be in Henry Memorial Park.

Mary Etta Rineholt Watkins
February 18, 1926 – July 30, 2001

The funeral for Mary Etta Rhineholt Watkins, 75, of 724 Henry St., Stanleytown, who died July 30, 2001, at the Blue Ridge Rehab Center, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Collins Funeral Chapel in Bassett. The Rev. William H. Preskitt will officiate. Burial will follow in Henry Memorial Park.

She was born Feb. 18, 1926, in Tiago County, W.Va., daughter of the late Samuel Rhineholt and the late Muiely Workman Rhineholt.

She had been a member of the Martinsville Church of Truth for 20 years.

Surviving daughter, Lois Ann Wagoner of Rocky Mount; one son, Samuel Watkins of Stanleytown; four sisters, Ora Sturro, Eva Rea Litz and Nellie Saltzman, all of Pasadena, Md., and Joselean Bloom of Annapolis, Md.; two brothers, Clayton Rhineholt of Eastern Shore, Md., and Ralph Rhineholt of Pasadena; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
